Conduit has built the system of record for the modern factory floor. We move manufacturers from one-off automation projects to holistic production systems where robots, machines, operators, sensors, and factory software synchronize. We are live with top manufacturers, are well capitalized, and are growing quickly. We are hiring the founding deployment engineer who will define how Conduit deploys robotic systems on customer sites.
The Role
This is a senior, founding role for someone who has either led customer-facing deployment teams at a hardware company before, or who has run major deployments as the senior technical owner, and who now wants to set the standard for an entire team. You will be in the field for the first deployments. You will hire the next three FDEs. You will design how we scope a customer, how we commission a site, how we hand off to steady-state, and how we translate field reality into product decisions back in SF.
We want you tilted toward customer and deployment, with engineering in your back pocket. Software is part of the job. Customer relationships, deployment discipline, and factory-floor presence are the heart of it.
What you'll do
Lead our hardest deployments personally. The first time a new customer's CEO meets Conduit, it is likely you.
Build the playbook. Site scoping, integration patterns, commissioning checklists, handoff templates, customer comms cadence, escalation paths.
Make the customer-to-product feedback loop real. You will sit between the field and the SF engineering team and force the right product investments to happen.
Hire and mentor the next FDEs. You will be a player-coach for at least the first year.
Be the partner the CEOs and plant managers call. You set the tone for the whole deployment org.
Who You Are
7+ years of customer-facing technical work.
You have led a deployment that drove measurable benefit to a real customer. A cell, a fleet, a line, a site — something a customer paid for and depends on today.
You are exceptional with people. Plant operators, controls engineers, plant managers, CEOs. You read rooms, you sequence work, you keep deployments moving when others freeze.
You are technical enough to debug, write small integrations, read PLC code.
You want to be a part of the reindustrialization of the United States.
Bonus Points
Your past experiences were at hardware, robotics, AV, automation, or industrial-tech companies.
Engineering or CS background.
Prior FDE, solutions engineering, or implementation lead role at a hardware-adjacent company.
Background or interest in operations, lean manufacturing, Toyota Production System.
